Testimonials
Deborah is deeply committed to music education at many levels. As an experienced teacher, she seeks to find each student’s learning style and balance the challenges of learning new skills with a sense of fun. As a parent herself, she has experienced the joys and challenges of teaching her own two children to play the violin. Deborah’s patience, humour and her positive attitude are qualities which have earned her respect and loyalty from her students and their parents. Her genuine interest in the families she works with has created lasting bonds which have a profound influence on the student’s self esteem and on the family’s appreciation of the discipline of music. Here is what parents and students have to say about Deborah as a teacher:
“You are truly a teacher who goes the extra mile. Thank you for inspiring your students not only to excellence in their playing, but excellence in how to live.”
~ Ingrid, parent
“Not everyone chooses a profession that has the power to influence a lifetime of learning and loving music….I can’t believe the change in my children in such a short time. We are so grateful and appreciative of you.”
~ Lisa, parent
“You do a really wonderful job of involving students in “extra-curricular” activities –giving them the opportunity to perform in many different contexts that go well beyond individual and group lessons and the yearly recital. These experiences enrich their experience of music greatly…and NOT every teacher is as committed to encouraging this facet of musical education as you are.”
~Mary-Ann, parent
“Your kind words could not have come at a better time. Because you let him know how he has been an inspiration to others in playing the violin, he has renewed confidence and self esteem.”
~ Heidi, parent
“Your commitment to me and my family has guided me through the many rough spots of my career as a violin student.”
~ student, age 15
“You gave me confidence in playing varieties of music since I was little, and now I take what you have taught me into a new experience with a new teacher. You will always be remembered as my first (and most fun) teacher. I hope you will go on giving others the same devotion and respect you gave me.”

Congratulations to Kiersten and Caleb who have joined La Jeunesse Youth Orchestra this year. These two also won the talent competition at the Warkworth Fall Fair (for the second year in a row!) and received as their prize a recording session at a local studio. Way to go!
